Welcome to the world of Andean Backstrap Weaving as practiced in the
Cusco region of Peru, South America. Cat Ellen is a self-professed “spindle junkie” of almost three decades. When she stumbled on Andean Backstrap Weaving in a 3-day intensive course from Abby Franquemont, she finally found a weaving technique as portable as her spindles. Now
after almost a decade of study and half a decade of teaching (both online and in-person), Cat brings an enthusiasm for weaving discovery and study that is infectious and appreciated by learners from all ages
and experience levels. Andean Backstrap Weaving has an extraordinarily deep history, one of the most interesting rabbit holes you may have encountered! There is a $30 materials fee payable to the instructor at the workshop. Workshop will begin after the meeting on Saturday (no later than 1:00) through 4:00 PM, then resume Sunday from 9-4:00.
