The display, entitled "A Blaze of Color: Mary Atwater’s Trip to Guatemala," features textiles and documents from the museum’s Western Textile Center collections that focus on Atwater’s travels and research in Guatemala in 1946.Read more information about the exhibit by clicking here.
Directions: take the I-10 freeway east to the Redlands area and exit on the California Street exit. If coming from the west, at the bottom of the off-ramp turn left under the freeway onto California Street and immediately get into the far right lane to turn onto Orange Tree Lane (the first street you come to). Turn right onto Orange Tree Lane (Pharaoh's water park is to the left). The museum is on Orange Tree Lane. Go down Orange Tree Lane around a bend and you will see a sign for the museum. Turn left into the large parking lot. Parking is free and abundant.
When you arrive please come in the front doors to the front desk. Ann Deegan, curator of history, will be waiting there and we will start in the room directly to the left of the desk (the Fisk Gallery).Ann will be giving a powerpoint talk about the exhibit, have some textiles out on a table to see, and take us to the exhibit area for a gallery talk. The four affiliate fiber groups (WTCA groups) may be attending as well.
