"My family and I have been weavers generation from generation. We inherited this tradition from our ancestors the Zapotecs. They were the first settlers in the valley of Oaxaca, Mex. in about 500 years B.C. The fiber they used was only cotton, and with the arrival of the Spaniards in 1600,s A.D. their technics were updated. A Dominic Bishop introduced to them a first sheep. So, they began weaving with wool. My family and I are very proud to preserve this tradition and keep passing it to our future generation. Along my family and other members from our community, we are promoting the use of natural dyes.
