Morning Program

Myra Wood is an internationally known fiber & bead artist and designer. She teaches a wide range of classes in beading, embroidery, crochet and knitting, specializing in all things freeform. She’s appeared on several episodes of Knitty Gritty and Uncommon Threads for the DIY & HGTV networks along with publishing a number of jewelry and wearables patterns in a wide range of books and magazines. Myra has been crocheting, sewing and crafting since she was young and enjoys any opportunity to inspire others creatively. She is also the moderator for the International Freeform Guild with over 1500 members worldwide and coordinator for their annual national shows. Presentation (open to the public), followed by a 1/2 day workshop for registrants:

Afternoon Workshop

Learn the timeless art of embellishing with beads. We’ll make a luscious, encrusted, jewel of a button that you can use to accent any handwoven/ art-to-wear garment or handbag. Learn a variety of beading stitches and techniques along with info on surfaces, threads, beads and other items you can incorporate into this uniquely expressive needle-art technique. A kit will be provided that includes everything you’ll need along with instructions for a finished ¾ inch encrusted button and tips & hints for bead embroidery.

Workshop fee: $35 for Full SCHG Members, $45 for nonmembers and Subscribers.

Materials fee:$20 payable to the instructor

To register: Send your deposit with the slip below to Carol Bingaman, Program Chair, address in your year book. (Balance due at workshop. Refund allowed up to one month prior to workshop.)
