She teaches basketry to children and adults to heighten their awareness of our planet and to help keep this wonderful, ancient art form alive.

Workshop: Basketweave Around a Cabochon
Sunday June 13

Students will learn how to coil a delicate pine needle basket around a beautiful polished stone. It's an easy way to start a basket and the stone makes a spectacular center. Students will also learn how to weave so their swirling stitches are identical on both sides of the basket. Students who already know how to make a pine needle basket are invited to take this class to learn this new way to start, plus a variety of ornate stitches, how to improve shaping skills, putting beads between coils, handles and more! The fancy stitches add not only beauty to the basket, but strengthen it as well.

This class is appropriate for beginners to advanced. Instruction will be individualized to each student.

Workshop fee: $50 for Full SCHG Members, $55 for nonmembers and Subscribers.
Materials fee: $23

Any questions can be directed to the Program Chair. We hope to see you at the June meeting!
