If you have wanted to discover new applications for your handwoven or surface designed fabrics, then enter the exciting world of the book arts with Curt Dornberg.

About Curt Dornburg: Curt has pursued books, “inside and out”, first as a Professor of English, then as a book worker and box maker. SATURDAY: Morning Lecture

Morning lecture from 10-12 for all members and guests will cover examples of various artists’ books and boxes and the processes that Curt follows. The workshop follows on Saturday afternoon and Sunday.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON and SUNDAY: Workshop

In the workshop, you will discover the sensuous delights of working with paper, the satsifaction of sewing, binding and boxing your own journals, albums, sketchbooks, etc. and the pleasure of seeing your own fabrics covering them. Curt Dornberg will have you making books and boxes in no time. You should complete four books and boxes, each covered with your own handwoven or surface designed fabrics. Materials fee: $10. Supply list provided upon registration. Workshop limited in size.

The Saturday morning program lecture (Part 1) is free for all members and visitors.

To register the workshop:

Workshop fee: $60 for Full SCHG Members, $70 for nonmembers and Subscribers. Members, please send your $25 deposit (check made out to SCHG) to Marj Meadows, address in your yearbook. Others and those without your Year Book, please contact the program chair at programs@schg.org. (Refund allowed up to one month prior to workshop.)
