Saturday Afternoon and Sunday workshop
Saturday March 11, 1 - 4 p.m.
Sunday March 12, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

This tapestry workshop is for both beginning tapestry artists, and students with previous tapestry experience.

We will start out on Saturday with a discussion of tapestry looms and the various warping configurations. The design and the finishing techniques desired in the final art piece designate the warp and heddle setup methods used. Warp materials, warp sett and weft materials will be discussed and compared.

After the looms are warped the tapestry techniques used to create angles, curves, circles and outlining will be demonstrated and practiced using different joining methods, which give different artistic effects. Color mixing with weft yarns to obtain subtle changes and depth of design will be demonstrated and experimented with. If there is time we will also work with textured weaves and specialty yarns. Students should not expect to have a finished product by the end of the workshop.

To register please send a deposit of $25. Make checks payable to SCHG and send to Karen Leckart (address in your year book).

General program questions can be directed to the Program Committee. We hope to see you at the March meeting!
