Warping on a Shoestring with the Singing Weaver

Nadine learned to dye and weave at the Oregon School of Arts and where she completed a certificate in Fibers. Known as the Singing Weaver, Nadine travels around the country teaching and performing. She has written books and produced recordings and videos. She designs weaves pictoral hangings, rugs and clothing. Innovative, energetic, affirmative teaching environment.

In this lecture/demonstration, Nadine will teach an easy way of tensioning your warp, using shoestrings (shoelaces).

Workshop:
Hands On Dye Painting for Weavers, Spinners & Quilters
1-Day Workshop (Sunday, February 13, 2005)

Throw out those fussy rules and precise dyeing calculations. Have fun! Even if you don't consider yourself a dyer, you can easily dye paint cloth, yarn or paper. Unlike immersion dyeing, dye painting leaves the fuss and precise calculations behind. Using fiber reactive dyes on cellulose fibers, learn to mix the dye paint, prepare cloth, paper or yarn for painting, and complete the process Students will bring pen/pencils, apron or old shirt, rubber gloves, prewashed cellulose fabric (cotton, rayon, linen, hemp) and a cone of natural/white cellulose yarn.

There is a Materials Fee of $30.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

The Saturday morning program is free for all members and visitors.

Sunday Workshop fee: $35 for Full SCHG Members, $40 for Nonmembers and Subscriber Members.

Class limited to 20 people.
