Experience two days of shibori weaving and dyeing. Both traditional and faux shibori will be used to create your one of a kind woven fabric. Shibori roughly translates “to wring, squeeze or press” – an aesthetic tie dye. When you weave with shibori, you end up with fabric with a dye-resist of your woven pattern.

Day One: Participants will learn the two shuttle woven technique and then weave at least two samples on the same threading.

Day Two: Samples will be taken off the loom, pulled and tied and dyes will be applied using immersion techniques.

Participants will need: Pre-warped 4 harness loom at least 12” W. 12-dent reed (epi 24) 3 shuttles/6bobbins, dye clothing, gloves, 10/2 perle cotton warp & weft ***

Instructor will supply: Weft thread, threading pattern, warping and dyeing instructions. Kathleen will supply 10/2 cotton warp & weft @ cost and will also wind your warp for a small fee. Please arrange if interested. Materials Fee: (paid to instructor)

Participants must know how to dress a loom and produce a plain weave.
