Level: Intermediate
Purpose: To explain the structures of Taqueté and Samitum and encourage weavers to try these weft faced weaves.
Lillian's Qualifications: In 1974 I first wove summer and winter. In 1976-1978 I led an 8-harness guild study group in summer and winter with many of its variations. In 1988 I wove summer and winter polychrome with fine threads and began weaving Taqueté in 1990, Samitum in 1993. I have written an article for Complex Weavers on this subject and given this seminar for Complex Weavers Seminar, at Convergence 92, at several guild meetings and at the Northwest Conference 93. I have received several awards for pieces woven in these techniques.
This workshop begins with an explanation of Taqueté. Each participant will come with a prewarped loom. Drafts will be given, and each one is encourage to experiment with their own designs woven in Taqueté.
