TEXTILE PROS PANEL

WITH LOCAL TEXTILE ARTISTS

Moderated by Karen Leckart

Plus

Potluck and Weftovers

June 10, 2017

Morning program:  How do I sell my weaving? Where do I sell? What price should I sell for?

A panel of artists/weavers who successfully market their work will address these and other questions related to marketing and showing your work.

Individual consultations: After the panel, a few of the panelists will lead small group consultations.  A maximum of five members, each bringing one representative piece of their work, will meet with a panelist. The panelist will critique and advise on the piece as an item for sale.  Consultations limited to registered participants.

Fee only for the consultation: $10

Panelists:

Nicki Bair:  She “weaves with words and weft”.  Known to local and national audiences Nicki has award winning tapestries and is known for her beetle series. http://www.nickibair.com

Sara Smelt: Sara has always seen art in science and science in art. When wool roving transforms into felt fabric however, that, is art, science and a little magic.  http://www.LearntoFelt.com

Kara Taub: Impressed by the noise of dobby looms, Kara became a fabric designer and weaver in England. Returning to Santa Monica, she now produces wearable accessories and fabrics. http://ktwf.etsy.com

Cameron Taylor-Brown: active in arts and education, She teaches color and design workshops throughout the United States and is widely exhibited; founder of ARTSgarage, a textile resource center in Los Angeles; http://www.camerontaylor-brown.com

Peggy Wiedermann: She uses a wide variety of materials to weave one-of-a-kind sculptural baskets. Natural elements such as pine needles, grasses, and waxed linen are coiled along with metal or found objects to produce unique art pieces.  http://peggywiedemann.com
